Introduce Your Persona/Audience

The first post required for your blog is based on the in-class style lessons for steps #1-4, where you  created a distinct core statement, the persona you want to portray and your audience.
Your job is to write 3 paragraphs:

  • In the first paragraph, introduce your topic, including your “core statement” at the beginning of the paragraph.  Then, give some explanation of what you plan to write about here, what angle you will cover and what you hope readers will get/learn from your blog.  What will readers expect to see that is different from other blogs like yours?
  • In the second paragraph, introduce yourself.  Write 3 essential personality traits of your blogging “persona”. Include why you have passion for the topic, what assets make you credible and why you think there is demand for your ideas.  You should also include some details about your writing style and attitude.
  • In the third paragraph, who is your ideal reader?  Use the AUDIENCE preparation in step #4 to write a profile with 4-5 traits you expect from those who would find your ideas interesting.

  1. I will be talking about mostly politics, in specific Donald Trump. I believe the people of America should be informed of Republican Candidate Donald Trump has said and the ideas he has if he wins the 2016 presidential election. I, like thousands of other people, do not support Mr. Trump. It is necessary that people realize who Trump really is and what kind of person he truly is. In my future posts you will see blogs about the specific things and ideas Donald has said and have.
My race, age, and gender do not matter since Trump is directly and indirectly affecting us. I care for all people of all races and I believe everyone is equal. Trump is the exact opposite. I have researched credible sources and have seen live feed of Trumps speeches. I have seen what he will do to “Make America Great Again”. Everything I will share on this blog will be my opinion on facts and statements from Donald Trump himself. All my posts will be serious because this is a serious situation.
I want my audience to be the people of America. Every American should know exactly what Trump has in mind and how he should not be the new leader of The United States of America. It is essential for us, the people, to not vote for him and his outrageous ideas. In specific, hispanics, and people from the middle east should be fully aware of what Trump will do since it will affect them the most.

    1. Hello Jose, I am very interested in reading about your blog. I too do not like Trump and do not support him and his ideas. I am interested in reading your opinions, but I am wondering if you are going to post factual things Trump says and does, or is it just going to be mainly opinion based? Either works I am just interested in what type of style you will be using. Your blog looks great and I cant wait to read it.

    2. I just want to put my opinion and spat a bunch of insults at trump. But i think you're doing well on hiding the details about your identity. Are you looking for opinionated people?

    3. Hello. I am also interested in your blog about politics. I don't know much about Trump but I am sure I will learn about him in your blog. I know you talked about how you have seen him on live feed and researched him on credible sources. I think this makes you a credible source to go to. Will you be just talking about trump in your blog or will you also talk about the other candidates running with Trump.

    4. Jose, this is topical and important and I think you can tell your interest by this post. I would like more intro of you here as a persona. You talk about your views, but who are you? However, your understanding of audience and your topic are great and make me want to read more. Keep that excitement.

  2. Welcome to my blog! In this blog, I want to review DIY crafts that make great gifts. I plan on covering different gift ideas for ideally anyone. From family to friends, to girlfriends to boyfriends, and even grandparents, there's a crafted gift for anyone. I want to review theses different gift crafts, and assess what makes them great gifts, as well as what doesn't make good gifts. I also plan on reviewing why these different types of crafts work, or why they might not work.

My name is Megan, and I am currently enrolled in University of Wisconsin Platteville. My friends would describe me as funny, energetic and outgoing, and I totally agree. I am very excited to share my opinions and knowledge about DIY crafted gifts and I can’t wait to get blogging! I suppose I should tell you a little bit about my background in crafting. I have been making craft gifts for over the past two years now, and I want to share my knowledge and thoughts/ reviews with all of you. My friends and family ask me all the time for gift ideas and I figured what better way to share then to make a blog.

The ideal reader for my blog is anyone from 16-50 interested in DIY crafted gifts. I picture anyone from teenagers looking for a cheap yet original gift, to stay at home moms looking for simple crafts. As well as older retired people looking for something to do. Now that doesn't mean it's only limited to that group of people, creating gifts can be open for all ages.

    1. Hey Megan! I look forward to read blog posts from such a exiting person like you! You do a great job explaining yourself and who you are. But do you really need to be 16-50 years old to be interested in crafts?

    3. Hi Megan. I am very interested in your blog about DIY crafts. I think we will share a lot in common since I enjoy doing DIY crafts also. Are you going to share what crafts you do and what ones are your favorite?

    4. Megan, this is a good angle....keeping in mind that you are being a critic as much or maybe more than a crafter is an interesting angle. Make sure you remember this position as you write your pieces. You have good audience thoughts, but remember to keep the ideas simple and to support your reviews with sound reasons for why they are good/bad. Also, polish your posts by rechecking for grammar, so you come out looking like a pro. Good work...keep at it.

  3. I think that writing a book is easier said than done. What do you know? Obvious isn't it? Well, you're not alone. I’m currently trying to write a book, and it hasn't been all sugar and honey. I keep getting stumped or disinterested or certain big parts. Like the details of the street fight taking place in the book i’m writing. I find that part so rough with being stuck on it.
Ive managed to write a short story in the past that was pretty good.. But this is harder. So why not write a blog about things like that?
This could mainly be for those of you who are having trouble writing a book of your own. I mean a loonngg book. Longer than a giraffe’s neck. It seems like a big obstacle, and I’m sure you feel like it's a big obstacle. So do i. And i’d like to talk about it with you. Coming up with a good plot is pretty rough. It should be about something you know or learned.

    1. Hey maya, I feel like maybe you should tell us a little about yourself little bit so that we know what kind of person you are. That way we could possible help you out.

    2. hey maya, I am interested to read what you have to say about writing a story. I just have a few questions, are you going to be sharing your personal struggles or more so what everyone generally struggles with? Are you going to be sharing any personal examples? And maybe talk a little more about the type of writer you are to get to know you

    3. Hi Maya. You have a good start talking about writing a book. I would maybe talk about yourself and but a little bit more background knowledge in your blog. Also what kinds of books do you like to write? I am interested to see what your going to teach us about writing books.

    4. The English teacher in me likes this topic...the writer appreciates that you are giving voice to writers, because we are not that different from each other. I am excited to see what you think might be important for blossoming writers to know. I would like a bit more info about yourself here to help readers see who you are and understand where you are coming from.

  6. I believe that snowboarding takes time to learn but once you got the hang of it you will enjoy every minute of it. I plan on talking to you about the basics of snowboarding since most people don’t know a lot about it and I also plan on talking about how to become a professional.

Hi, welcome to my blog. I am Abby and I am a senior at Kettle Moraine High School. In my free time when we have snow in Wisconsin I love to snowboard. I started when I was 12 years old and never quit doing it. I am passionate about snowboarding because I have been doing it for awhile and it’s a fun activity to do for the day. I am a credible source because I have been doing it for a long time and I am an experienced snowboarder. I think there is a demand for my blog because people are interested in it and don’t know if they should try it out or not. I am excited to share my opinions about snowboarding and hope you learn something about it to.

My ideal reader is someone who is interested in learning about snowboarding. My audience is mostly teenagers 13-18 that are willing to try snowboarding. Just because teenagers mostly do snowboarding does not mean that they just have to do it anybody is able to try snowboarding and enjoy it. I hope you can learn something from my snowboarding blog.

    1. Abby, this reads well. Your voice is clear and your passion/interest are here too. I also think you have done a nice job carving out how you will approach the topic and who it is for....well done. Keep these newbies in mind as you continue writing.
